Very sad I agree. I read where he was caught submerged under the boat for about 10 minutes. It brought to mind a tip about the need to have quick release connectors fitted on your safety tether in case you do go over the side. The tip was given during my last safety and sea survival renewal by an experienced sailor/instructor who has two circumnavigations in his 33 footer to his credit. The claim was that the connectors fitted (regulated this way perhaps) are almost impossible to get undone if you are unfortunate enough to fall or get washed overboard on a moving yacht. The force of being dragged along usually under the water gives you buckley's (pardon the pun) was the claim. It may not have been relevant to this unfortunate incident but I would like to raise it here in case anyone has any experience, opinion or has a quick release connector on their safety tethers.
Sad news, the guy had a wife and kids, but died doing what he loved to do.
No consolation for them perhaps but it is always those left that grieve.
I've often thought better way to go than sitting in front of a tv in a nursing home....

Sad loss indeed. "Bart" was one of the world's best and highly respected Finn sailors. His Youtube videos are worth seeking out and viewing.
