Having purchased a very broken 33foot old wooden Yaught we are re roofing re flooring etc. We want to sail her back to our home town (Nelson bay) asap and are arr putting the feelers out an experienced buddy going that way as a back up. Either to sail nearby or to come onboard with us just in case something is not up to scratch along the way.
I'm not sure if this is a weird request but we are guessing one of you loves adventure :)

Hi SSFlyer,
As said it would be handy to know where you want to sail from. Also put up some pics taken with your phone maybe.
Theres other important things such as are the boats sea cocks good, has she got current flares and life jackets, vhf radio, is she anti fouled- how sound is hull - does the motor run well and have you checked steering from end to end .... in other words make sure the voyage is an adventure not a risk.
I have sailed hulks in the the past and due to scariness at different times that's why I now know to check these things
(ie Its an embarrassing pain sailing around in circles at sea trying to fix broken steering which was one of my mishaps!)
You're likely to get a better response with that kind of info and it sounds like you are at the beginning of "an excellent adventure" as they say and buying a yacht is a great decision
Thanks yes, those things are underway! The flares were 20 years out of date, we had it checked-the hull is sound, the rest will be finished before then ( also we have pushed back the date due to work.
We plan to sail a bit around the harbour as a test 1st. We have life jackets and we will have a rubber ducky also. It is def an adventure and a risk:) x
We will post pics once she is done- it's no fun giving the before pics when you don't yet have the after ones:)
