Last weekend I enjoyed a 4-day sail along northeastern Kangaroo Island. Although we had the wind on our nose more than we would have liked, we enjoyed some stunning scenery.

Very nice. Is there a size limit on Tommy Ruff's?

Hi Ramona. There is no minimum length for Tummy Ruff in SA. There is a daily boat limit of 180, which is hardly a limit though!

PS I was pulling them up 2 at time there were so so many of them around my boat.

They are an acquired taste, I grew up with them. We had a steady diet of Tommies and Whiting when I was growing up. Before TV, a nights entertainment was fishing off jetties for Tommies.

What do they taste like? Are they like Australian Salmon or mullet?

Boys not at all they are a beautiful fish to eat. They are a close relation of herring. I would prefer these over KGW anyday.

KGW are for people who dont actually like the taste of fish, I find they are bland and taste a bit nothing.

However give me a decent flathead
