We are looking at getting the sails on our compass Northerner 28 checked over, cleaned and repaired. We also want to investigate a 3rd reef. The main is a Gemmell who I think was a Sydney maker but no longer in business. The jib is a Halsey. Does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable sailmaker.?
Thanks as ever

Ben Gemmell now works at Barracouta sails in Caringbah. The Drummoyne loft has been taken over by Sydney sailmakers - Steve Jackson. Both would offer excellent service.
Also
Sydney Sailmakers. They re-cut my sails a few times.

I'd recommend the work completed at Sydney Sailmakers in Drummoyne. Not sure how they compare regarding pice, but I've always been received with a smile, had good advice, had my work turned around quickly and been happy with the quality of work.

Dont know if this is too late but...
A friend of mine who did his sail making apprenticeship with North Sails (but left the trade) looked at my new main and stays'l the other day and reckons that mine were every bit as good as his new Norths sails. My sails were made IN DRUMMOYNE by Sydney Sailmakers. The price wasn't Honk Kong price but you get what you pay for. If Steves prices were 20% more then Id do it again.
And a weel later Steve's guys visited the boat and measured the covers for the main, stays'l and headsail on a friday and I picked them up three working days later.
Beautiful work...dont know them them apart from that but highly recommended.

Ps happy with the prices.
Sails back from Redback at Brookdale. Very happy with result, service and price.
Can't wait to try the new 3rd reef.
Thanks for the advice.
