You've enjoyed our previous movies of our Sydney 36 "This Way Up", well here's our latest 11min director's cut. Good action starts around 5.00
It is a 48nm race down the coast from Freo, around Coventry Reef (near Mandurah), and back. Quite a testing day!! ![]()

We carried the full main all day. As we approached Coventry reef, the breeze kept strengthening, finally powering up the #4 (#3 tack broke
) The breeze had built to around 30, and we thought about a reef, but knew we would be around Coventry shortly, and we'd want full rag for the fast ride home.
Reefs are to be avoided!!!! ![]()
At 35kts we would be at #4 & a reefed main, which is proabaly getting to towards the comfort limit of an amatuer crew that do it for fun, so we would switch from racing mode to get home safe mode.
We enjoyed the day, was a great outing.
Sunday we had the Fremantle Harbour Race - 30 bigs yachts racing a HC start in a tight piece of water - great viewing! Photos here...https://picasaweb.google.com/MrSwanno/HarbourRace2011# ![]()

Great Vid, Looks like it was a top day. If only I could get out the bloody office and I'd be out there too.
Enoyed the vid. Also like the boats out of the Sydney Yachts shed so it was good to see one in action in a decent breeze. The Sydney 32 is on my short/wish list for the next boat. ![]()
that's a tight course for big boats !!! bonus beers for the crew at end of day?
great spectator viewing though!!
