Hi all
we have a Crowther Eureka 32 with a beam of about 15-16ft.
At the moment, she's powered with a clapped out 15hp Isuzu diesel to Volvo sterndrive legs. Hopeless......cavitates like crazy,,,motor's almost dead.
A friend suggested we instal twin steerable outboards just forward of the point of pivot, however, I'm wondering with such a skinny hull with potentially only a metre between outboard legs, whether there is any worth installing twins rather than just a bigger single?????
Any advice???????
A friend of mine has the same kind of boat - crowther eureka - and it has two 10hp outboards - they are just far enough apart to give a turn within its length maneurvreability.
One 15hp in the middle would be adequate and the cheapest solution.
Hey Oceans
finally went with a single 25hp Yamaha high thrust........mostly due to cost constraints....on a pod. Motor delivered to our shipwright today who is working on the pod.
The boat comes out of the water on the 8th June and we'll see how the installation goes. Thence starts the cabin sole and installation of a new gas cooker.
Wish us luck!!!!!!!! Will let you know how we go.
Also working on getting my late Dad's Triton 721 mono back in the water some time very very soon. Hopefully will meet Jess Watson on her last leg to Mooloolaba!!!
LOL...there goes my inheritance...running 2 boats!!
Cheers
Trace
hey trace - good luck with it all - favour mounting the motor as low as possible or cavitation can be a little annoying in rough water - it doesn't seem to hurt outboards tho. let us know how it goes with the 25hp
