Evening all...
I'm looking at a smart charger.... 50amp for a 470Ah bank...
I've come across these ones.
Has anyone any info on them or other smart chargers?
As I'll be berthed at the marina on 240 most of the time I was leaning towards the Mariner Nautic - it has a go slow when left unattended and a desulfating program every 21 days...
anyhow... thoughts?

Have used a Xantex for a few years now and seems quite good.
Although the little boat has a 5 stage charge and hold with desulphication from Supa cheap Auto and it works as well.
Check out these guys, brought a Victron inverter a few months back and they were very helpful

STERLING Pro Charge Ultra 12V 50A (3 out) nearly $1100.... at baintech... mind you the same stirling on amazon is 500 US.
We arnt at 2:1 with the US dollar are we?

Just remember it is not the cost of the charger it is the costs of the bank of batteries a cheap charger burns out.
BTW I have the Xantex Truecharge 60A
It is the old story really, you can buy from the recreational range (cheaper) or you can buy from the commercial range (not cheaper).
One costs more but is made for every day use somewhere near it's full capacity.
Most commercial fishing boats will use JRC or Furuno electronics and not Raymarine.

ePOWER has the latest algorithms including lithium Different algorithms can be set to individual battery banks to suite the type of battery. I am using one in my caravan charging a 300amp lithium system. On the boat I have a 3000w/120amp Mastervolt charger / inverter (plus some other assorted bits to make it work) charging 1,200amp/hr of batteries.
With the Xantrex, if you add the remove control panel you can down rate the charger to say 20amp, this is handy if you have limited power supply or running on say a 1kva generator. I think you can also down rate the ePOWER by using the panel on the charger and not requiring a remote panel. This is something you must consider when using chargers over 40amp.
When setting them up, is there any necessity to consider the fact that there will be solar flowing through it also? Surely the fact that none of the chargers mention in the instruction manuals I have dloaded to worry about other connections means it should be no difference?
Have come up with 4 Chargers all avail around the same price ie $650 - 750.
