What year 2013 has been first my mother passes away in July Suddenly, then as I thought thing were picking up NSW Maritime contacts me and advises that a mooring in Five dock is available, good news I thought until I had to organize a inspection on the mooring I purchased, took two weeks of chasing up and being told next two days before the job is done!!! So once the job is done I went to move Charm on to the mooring and the steering chain in the pedestal snaps!! so I get the local marina mechanic to fix the steering, while he is working on the steering I get a call to say that my brother had a massive heart attack in WA, so I catch the first available flight over just in time to see him before they turned the Life support off!!! a week later I get home to find the bill for the steering and Maritime wanting to know why I haven't moved yet, so I let maritime know what was going checked with the mechanic and as we had a pre booked holiday to Vanuatu the next day I packed my suit case and off we went for a 8 night holiday.
We arrived back rested and over the event of the passed two months and decided to go and move Charm to the mooring and guess what, started the boat after a jump start because the batteries where left on, slipped the mooring rope and heed up the river only for the boat to go in the opposite direction straight toward a on coming river cat! I can't put the words I use on the phone to the mechanic on this forum and after he came out and towed me back to the mooring he advised he had made a big mistake in the repair!!!! and he would fix it on Thursday afternoon- well today is Friday and know he is going to fix it on Saturday - any bet on what's going to happen on Sunday!!
Roll on 2014!!!!!
The good news is, bad luck runs in threes, so you should be right from now on!
How did the guy stuff the steering? Crossed the chain down the pedestal? I hope you get the whole thing done for free, I wouldn't be paying a cent.
Sorry to hear of your losses too.
I'm in Five Dock - lovely, calm spot, by and large. See you there. I'll be aboard a lot over the next few months fixing and painting and what not.

Sad stuff Keith, thoughts to you and the family. Tend to agree with Radical, ask for compensation then report the wanker to whoever, or name and shame. Would have thought some sort of test would have been done by the mechanic.
Cheers
Ken
Things will get better from now on. I drove around Canada Bay the other day and it truly is a lovely part of the world.![]()
Thanks all for your kind thoughts.
We took Charm out on Sunday what magic day it was. Charm was finally repaired on Saturday yes for free and the steering went well.
we anchored off Obelisk Beach for lunch the view was a bit surprising but the water was clear and relaxing. Charm is now on her new mooring in Five dock bay so I will keep an eye out for you Roger.
