a mate of mine has a elliott 7.8 and it is a excellent smooth water racer but I don't think i would like to use it as a cruiser
His also carries a lot of sail and i don't think it has any reeling points in the main sail so if it starts to blow things might get interesting
his is a bit limited in cabin space also compared to a cruising boat of a similar length and in his the cabin windows are not windows at all but just painted black outs
It is a nice thing to sail but a bit of a compromise as a all rounder
