Hi lads, im trying to track down a suitable gooseneck for my Sonata 8m, it came with a solid cast ally type (sorry no pics on me at the moment) and it has certainly reached the end of its life. Im finding these surprising hard to find, any thoughts? Cheers, Nate

Yeah. Take it to a decent fabricator and get them to make a new one in stainless

As you're in WA go and see the guys @ Boating Hardware in O'Connor.

If Chris can't recognize it then no one will!!

Cheers Rumble, ill take it down there and see what we can do.

I didnt realize there is such a broad variety of goosenecks! I thought "ah yeah jump on eBay and snap one up, or at least Whitworths and she'll be right!" not the case!

Cheers lads, can anyone recommend one for a 8m trailer sailer, i actually don't like the one i have, they way its mounted to the mast is with 6 rivets, and under load looks fragile, might even go with one on a track so i can adjust boom height?

Thanks again!

Don't go the track option, the load on the track is massive and they rivets will break very quickly. Also no need to move the front of the boom up, just use the main halyard/topping lift to rasie the aft end.

6 x 3/16 all S/S rivets is fine for your boat but if you want to go bigger Chris can get you bigger and better ones.

Oh and if you live in WA why go to Whitworths when you have one of the best chandleries in Oz just over the river with some of the most knowledgable people in the industry working there?!

Hey mate, yeah I usually only use Whitworths because I live down south, so its online for me as there is NO sailing hardware joints around for hundreds of miles! Cheers for the info though mate!
