Hello all, I'm a fairly regular poster in the kitesurfing section.

I was wondering if there are any good ways to get into a competitive sailing (racing) crew?

I'm physically very fit and good at operating under pressure - which I assume would be useful.

So far as experience is concerned I have basic sailing knowledge, having sailed a bit when I was in my teens, however not much on larger yachts or overnighters.

maybe go down to the closest yacht club and ask some questions.

If you live in Sydney come to the boatshow and talk to the people from Allsail. Its a fun, reasonably priced way to get out on the water and they cater for racing/cruising etc etc

put wanted ads or something at clubs or on their websites. Sydney should be easy to find someone, especially the CYCA. I'm sure their website has a crew wanted ad section which you could go through to find contacts.

Any day there is racing, just go down to the club, and ask around, you'll be surprised.

Go down to Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club in Pittwater and put your name on the crew list and turn up on race day and you may get a ride on a yacht this worked for me.
