A simple method to enable a warm shower without an electrically pressurized water system.

A fridge for cold beer and other drinks.

A battery powered transistor radio capable of reception on SW1, SW2, AM and FM frequency bands. Very nice to have at beach BBQs and can also pick up Coordinated Universal Time Signals.

An on board stereo system as fitted to most cars that has USB and/or a 3.5 mm Auxiliary input so as to obviate the necessity of carrying CDs aboard.

A 39 cm (15.6") 12 volt powered television set with inbuilt DVD player and USB input (Bauhn from Aldi for $120) which can play movies from a portable hard drive or USB stick.

A laptop computer with a digital drive for reading and copying visitors music and movies discs, running Quick Charts, internet capable and for general entertainment with games etc.

A tablet device that runs Navionics.

I'm getting one of those cheap 229 dollar electric loos from whitworths this week. Gunna epoxy in a base up under the v bunk for it to sit on. The neighbour has a tiller pilot for 100 bucks so I'll grab that when I see him next. Basically just ipads plugged into the lighter socket is the height of out techo stuff.

Very little. I like the sound of cisco's setup minus the tv. What's the shower setup, Cisco?

Oh, for record I have levac loo straight out, auto tiller 2000, crappy old car audio I will replace. Oh, I have lights too. Even have a red one. Just reinstalled the double sinks so now I have running sea and freshwater. Lookshery!

The vanity sink in the head has an 8 litre capacity. It's drain has a T piece with a stopcock on each outlet and hose leads, one leading to overboard and the other to a foot diaphragm pump feeding the shower head.

For a hot shower turn off both stopcocks. Boil or heat two 2 litre kettles of water, fresh or sea water. Once heated pour into vanity sink and add another two kettles of cold water to suit your temperature preference.

Open the shower stopcock and and pump enough to wet yourself down. Stop pumping and soap yourself up. Once you have lathered and washed yourself, pump again to rinse off.

Once rinsed you should have 3 to 4 litres of water left for the pure luxury of hot showering. I use a shower head on a flex line so I can put water directly onto the hairy regions.

A good quality well insulated engine waste heat water heater can save time and gas used heating water. I have used one that produces really hot water and keep it stored for up to 48 hours.

I am not a fan of pressurized water systems on a yacht because if it develops a leak it will dump all your fresh water to bilge.

Thanks. And you have some sort of reservoire with pumpout at the floor? Under lattice or a glassed in job or ...?

Actually, with the size of my head I'm thinking a privacy screen or three and a simple camp shower in the (centre) cockpit hung from the boom might be easier both for install and execution. Sure, cold in winter but it'd be cold anyway. Yep, I've convinced myself I think, at least as a first step.

Yes. If you let it drain to bilge then pump the bilge, the boat will stink up something awful.

The Four Yorkshiremen skit, Dave. Maybe the airlines made a reference to it.
