I was down on my boat yesterday and saw this being trailered out of the water. I couldn't help myself going for a look and taking a few pics.
He said this 7 hp Yanmar pushes her along up to 10 knots.
And with this nice big prop, I reckon she might.
She is built from strip ply. I really like the phallic bow sprit. That was added to make her tack through the wind.
She has a gaff rig. It was designed and built a local here who has since traded it with the current owner for a BMW 650 off road bike. It was on Gumtree for $10,000.

The planks are actually ply? All cut to shape? Great idea, would they be hard to keep waterproof ?
How did the planks go from being lapped clinker style to sitting on top of each other at the transom ?
Great little boat, some boats "owner built" like this are really ugly, but she's a little beauty, just needs a name !
The planks are beveled so that they go from Clinker to carvel. It's the same or similar to how plywood sheets were used at the bow when the chine disappeared on plywood boats. Not hard to do, just annoying. These days you would probably leave a gap and fill and fair with epoxy and paint over.
Sealing all that end grain just takes a lot of real varnish or paint.
