I sail a windrush 14 catamaran out from safety bay and occasionally from the cruising yacht club hardstand. i am finding that quiet often i am the only sail boat on the water. there are stacks of sail boats cats and mono's out there! where are you all!
regards nathan
yes that is definatly true. but it would be nice to have a few more boats out and about. oh well summer comes soon plenty of sailing to do then:)
Come down to Port bouvard Sailing club sometime as we are now an affiliated club and looking for cats to sail the coming season in our mixed cat fleet. I used to sail at s/bay and rocko and i would often be the only boat on the water.
i may have seen you in the bay a few weeks ago nathan.i normaly sail all over the sound but keep an eye out will be sailing from bent st sat to mandurah back on sunday.say hi if you see me.mac 26x miss u. peter.
thanks hobie 17 i may have to come down to say hi and go for a sail sometime. i sail at the safety bay yacht club.. those guys are good! anyway just curious who will be doing this years "Cat Classic"? yes you probably hav Peter i sail most weekends i can encourage my dad to take my boat down ![]()
Nathan
There will be a bunch of Tornado's doing the classic this year.
We brought a few Tornado's to Rockingham last season, and plan on running a regatta down there next year.
You should come down when we are there and come out for a spin.
We have 4 confirmed 16sq's (another 3 undecided), 2 f18's and a couple of 5.8's traveling from Bunbury for the cat classic. Looks like its going to be a great regatta.
Yer thatd be great Tornado 301 always wanted to go out on a Tornado ai they look like great fun! where abouts in roko did you sail from?
i havent seen a 'Cat classic" yet but they seem like a great idea

feb 14 2010 PBSC will be hosting another long distance race in the peel/harvey estuary, all welcome with handicap starts.
Yeah we heard about that Hobie17. A few Tornado's plan on coming down for it.
Sounds like a bit of fun.
How far is the race ?
Great guys, I can confirm the race will be on 14 feb, starting at PBYC and heading down to the first platform which is about 8km south down the harvey, turn and head back north toward PBYC, then navigate your way through the channel markers near the Dawesville Cut and head into the Peel inlet from there its about a 10 km run to the next platform turn and head back to the club. So all up around its about 36 km race. Prizes will be up for grabs and the race will be sponsored by a local buisiness. More details available as the season progress contact me at [email protected] to register your intrest. this race is not just for cats its on for young and old. Cheers![]()
I am keen for the port bouvard race.
Hey Hobie 17 you comming to the cat classic?? Its an awesome event. We got 40 dd boats last year and its great fun.
I would love to sail at rocko but when we took the F18's down there the club was not very friendly and wouldnt let us use the club facilities. Its a shame as rockingham is one of the best places to sail in perth and fantastic for sailing cats there.
And bring the windrush down tot he cat classic Nathan as in the past a windrush has won the cat classic and it is great to see them on the water
not sure at the moment, got a new boat im trying to get over from vic before the race otherwise id have to use the old one, but ive been wanting to make it to the classic for a while now. the guys at tcyc R/Ham think their Yvonnes are the fastest boats on the water and i dont think they like other cats invading their space but they need it as they are massive (slow) tanks. ![]()

its a shame because it is such a beautiful bit of water to sail in. The Yvonne guys werent too friendly towards us and especially since we are a bit faster. but we went into the bar for a beer and hang around for the presentations and they kicked us out!!! said we colnt come in because we werent members even though we paid to sail that day. so we all left and vowed never to return but it is hard as its so good to sail there.
come on down to safety bay then instead! awesome sailing there. great freindly club and we sail cats! mostly and a couple of mono's.
too shallow. I used to sail in SB someties on my windrush and I know a windrush sometime can graze the bottom near penguin island there so there is no hope for a F18 I draw nearly a meter under the hulls
Faire enough yes there certainly are some shallow spots. will cost u a bit in a race if u hold on to long and graze them.
yeah like new centre boards ha ha.
When you want to go for a spin next email me [email protected] and I will give you my phone number. I will probally not take my boat out as it takes 2 hours to rig. But the last heats of the winter series are on the 22 of this month at freo you should come down I will be there racing and hopefully there will be some other cats there but most of them went soft for the winter and cant handle the cold. So come down its grassed area to sail its great.
sounds good.. what cats should be sailing at freo then? i normally sail on a sunday but the odd saturday is ok.. freo sounds pretty good i would like to see an f18 tiger all rigged up be quite specky
OHH nice when u heading of to italy? who are u sponsored by? apparantly sponsorships have been incresingly difficult to get so alotta people cant make it?
Bout time there was someone brave enough to sail at freo for the winter series.
There might be a race on!!!!!
Bring your windrush down Nathan it will be good fun. And good practice for the cat classic. You can catch up with the guys and find out where everyone is sailing
Off to Italy in 10 days.
Hey Tiger, we were there for the first round of winter races.
Lets just hope that it's not a drifter like the other times we have ventured down there.
if they dont have me on at work and i can get the boat down then most definatly. but unfortunately will probs be moving house around then so cant be sure :( would i have to work it out with the sailing officer of the day?
Hey Nathan its me corey from skool, i won't be needing a crew. i am going to take my dad out if i go might be too wet and windy.
YEah Nathan my sailing officer of the day is not too happy about me sailing 12 months of the year too so I was lucky she let me sail the winter series but wouldnt stretch the friendship to both the winter series ha ha. Should be doing boat maintenance anyway
I wouldn't get too carried away. You didn't quite beat us, but you would have on yardstick.
Looking forward to some wind this time.
Cheers
