Found this pic of my father on Sydney harbour....unfortunately he's not here to tell me the story does anyone have a idea what boat? Would say the pic is around 40 years old...... J class?

my guess is a 16ft skiff.......this is one from Middle Harbour club ...same?

Holy crap! Well it has a j on the main so I was just guessing. I noticed the pic I posted has full battens? And the other pic doesn't. All my boats are full batten. The sail would be very full with out it right?

I actually sailed 16ft skiffs back in the 70's...but memory? some had full battons..some did not...different sailmakers.(also light and heavy cuts). I mainly went = hull is familiar skiff type, but mainly the cut and size of spinnaker, 18ft had much larger and 12ftskiffs smaller again.

The top two J Class yachts are of Endeavour followed by Lionheart and the one with the lil bump on the bow is Ranger. J's used to sail for the Americas cup before the 12 metre class.

The most gorgeous racing yachts ever built in my opinion.

Yes the j's were decades ahead of their time the lines that W Fife and alike cut would take a bit of beating even by today's standard ! Show me a carbon boat in 100 years I reckon it would be a photo and a memory !
