Many kind and expert sailors have advised us that, for an effective trip up the coast in our little 28', we'll need a whisker pole.
I guess 1.5 to 2 inches diameter and around 3.2m long is about right. (There's mixed units for you!)
There do seem to be spare ones around, but can't find anything near our location - no car of course.
Anyone know of one near Camden Haven. I'll update our location as we go.
Eventually we'll hit the big city and can buy some ends and pole I guess.
Cheers

P.s. there ain't anywhere nicer than Camden Haven to wait for the breeze!
I would like to draw your attention to the fallacy, that whisker poles are much less loaded up when in use, than spinnaker poles.
I am an Adams 28 owner and recently researched the subject of whisker poles for my 5m+ footed asymmetric.
My rigger strongly recommended a 60mm/2mm alum pole. Anything less would cause problems with my big sail, he said.
The pole is available from PenAsia 02-9024-3800 at 16 Fariola st. Silverwater for a measly amount of $57 in 6,5m lengths. It is only 1kg/meter.![]()

Windsurfing masts. Cheap.
I use the top section of a Windsurfer mast for my 30 footer. Usually $10 at recycle shops but you have to be quick they are in demand.
