I normally keep my fuel tank full to minimise the air gap which minimises the chance of the diesel bug taking hold.
The boat will be on the hardstand for 12 months or more so I wondered if it was better to drain the tank completely.
But the questions is:
can the diesel bug grow in the thin coating of diesel that will no doubt remain on the inside surface of the aluminium tank (and has it ever happened) ?
The bug lives in water, and feeds on diesel. Unless you seal the tank, you will get condensation, so there is a chance for the bug to grow, but there wont be much food. If you can insulate the tank, there will be less chance of condensation.
