Having a brouse on boat point it's a buyers market still.
If I had $150k I would buy this one tomorrow!http://www.boatpoint.com.au/boats-for-sale/boatdetails.aspx?R=13816620&Silo=Stock&Vertical=Boat&Ridx=2&eapi=2
Nice yacht and nice photos yes. None of the photos seem to be current though.
What makes you think it would be worth spending that amount tomorrow to buy it??
I bought this fabulous yacht around 1991 under her real name "ENVY II" for $75,000.http://www.boatpoint.com.au/boats-for-sale/boatdetails.aspx?R=13820838&Silo=Stock&Vertical=Boat&Ridx=9&eapi=2
I then unnecessarily spent a motza and 18 months refitting her, prior to going chartering and making my fortune.
Two and a half years later after working my butt off 7 days a week and making a $50,000 loss, I took her back home from Cairns to Bundaberg and sold her to Cap'n Ben for $110,000 without the Marine Parks Permit which I subsequently sold for $27,000.
Cap'n Ben, a fairly cunning business man, who had an established sailing business in Moreton Bay, used ENVY II to great advantage as a sail training school with promising graduates being offered the opportunity (at a price) to compete in the Brisbane to Gladstone races for a number of years.
For a while he had a captive audience of "Women Only". How good is that??
He has done a few nasty things to her since he bought her though.
First he renamed her "Lady Katherine" after his daughter for goodness sake. Then he took the tiller off and put that stupid wheel steering on her.
He has taken out the gimballed kero stove and replaced it with a Tudor two burner and grill gas unit, mucked around with the companionway and the starboard settee berth. Everything else looks to be as it was when I sold it to him.
Then grossest of all sins, he let her sink at the marina in Manly. How could that happen to a yacht if the owner is astute???
That would have meant all new electrics and maybe engine too.
The winches are original and were flogged out when I bought her. The drums are alloy and I had to get them bored and fit plastic sleeves for bearings instead of the roller bearings.
Just before Cap'n Ben bought her I had rerigged her with 304 stainless for standing rigging and new wire to rope halliards in about 1996. So unless he has rerigged her since she is seriously overdue.
Despite all the above, one thing remains true. She is a Doug Peterson designed alloy IOR two tonner and they are spectacular yachts.
The last one that was for sale was Sunburst for $25,000 in Adelaide.
I venture to guess that ENVY II without the business in today's market is worth similar.
I know what you are saying Cisco ! Ok .....my boat cost $22k and I spent close to 100k on re-build but she's only worth 90k according to the market....
But the good thing is after 5 years in the water it's basically only maintenance, cleaning and annual slipping to be done....
most of the boats over 10 years old more than likely will need a bit more work than a 5 year old boat I guess depending how well they have been maintained.
Well the boat I pointed out yeah maybe still over priced but I'm thinking that type of cruiser is going to be my next home.
I have not seen that make before has anyone had any experience?
