Does anyone have any advice on timber hulls when inspecting? Huon pine hull with celery top pine decks.
If you are buying a timber boat in Tassie, keep it in Tassie in those cold waters.
If you bring it into the tropics the worms will have a feast.
The boat looks really nice. The nicest looking part of it is the solid deck house, especially from the inside when it is cold and wet outside.![]()
Going through first stages of contract with rep today, both excited yet nervous about owning my first yacht that is 10ft plus. What would a rough guesstimate on dynal sheaving a 33ft yacht be if that's what i wanted to do in a few years?
You wouldn't dynal sheave a huon yacht, or any planked boat for that matter.
Our ex-Tassie Cray boat is Kauri and is 60 years old and the only place there is any rot has been at deck level where rain water was getting in.
If you want to re-furb the hull I would be striping back to timber, re-caulking and then re-painting.
Thanks for the vote of confidence in timer rumblefish. Contract done, nervous as all hell and didnt think I would feel like this
. Takes me back to when i was younger and was about to jump into bed with a girl the first time....![]()
