gunwale timber for sailing dinghy

Hi All,

Is anyone able to advise where i might get some lengths of gunwale timber in vic? been bashing google pretty heavily and cant seem to find a stockist. Oregon, vic ash, teak.. im not fussy at all.

Bunnings. Wont have Oregon or teak but the various pine and Tasmanian oak would do. Also treated pine varnishes up well!

Hazelwood and Hill for Oregon and most timbers

Welcome Chris, Old doors yield some lovely timber, Douglas fir, western red cedar, hoop pine some times you might even find Aussie cedar, beech, mahogany etc. Ofcoarse it only comes in 7ft lengths with annoying mortises cut in it, tho they usually come with corresponding tendons that are good to glue into the afore mentioned holes.
maybe not what you think, but I never let a chance go by, after you get years of paint of you will find woods that just can't be got no more ever.
Alternatively you could run down some decking the usual hardware mobs sometimes have some nice indoenisan rainforest jobs merbu etc good luck
