Learned these techniques when I first learned to sail, but it's always good to have a refresher every now and then, thanks for the post Mercury Oxide.

I spent so much time google earthing the nsw south coast and victoria l just knew where l was by looking when l finally got out there.

Luckily l was on someone elses boat..

Used them all, and a few others, back in the 70s & 80s. Wrote a program for the Sharp hand held computer to simplify the plotting, 2k of memory for program in basic and data, quite a challenge. Managed to get all the almanac except Jupiter and Saturn in a slightly bigger Sharp.
