Hi, I know this seems to be a thread for personal cruiser and racing boats, but this was a boat nonetheless so I guess someone might know: There used to be a rather old (and large) wooden boat out the front of the shipwreck museum in Fremantle. I was only young when it was there so I cannot remember whether it had masts still or not. It was moved quite a few years ago. It seems strange as it seemed too big to move and too hysterical to destroy. Does anyone know where it went?
And to any West Australianers who haven't heard yet, the Duyfken is coming back to WA (yay)!
I think you will find she was a pearling lugger retrieved from Broome, perhaps one of the old Streeter and Male fleet, there used similar at the old Fremantle lunatic asylum museum, perhaps the same vessel being shuttled around??

I thnk you might be right. is it in the other maritime museum now?
would be nice to see the duyfken home, it was rotting in a dry dock in brisbane a few years ago, and i can recall having it explained to me by the skipper in fremantle that she needed the decks soaking twice a day with sea water to prevent rot setting in![]()
shortly after the new owners sent it upstream to the brewery
