HI All
I want to explore Lake Macquarie, and draw 6ft. can anyone get me a list of all jetties That are appropriate? also f they are powered or unpowered.
thanks in advance.
I agree with your two. A few more where you will be ok are RMYC Toronto, Toronto public wharf if the tide is high, Wangi Workers club, Styles Point Jetty, Murrays Beach, Valentine Bowling Club and also F wharf at Rathmines. We have been on all of these with our Catalina 320 which draws just under 2 metres. F wharf was marginal for us. Have been told wecould get on at Summerland Point and the pump out jetty on the southern side of Wangi but haven't tried these personally. Enjoy the Lake!
+1 For RMYC Toronto. Great facilities, friendly people, cheap meals and very handy location for shopping.
It is a "motor" yacht club but has a very strong sailng contingent and gets very busy on the outer wharf on Wednesday afternoons.
The history in the trophy room is very interesting. It was the first club in Australia to win the world championship for I think it was the 16 ft skiffs.
Don't go on the inside of the F wharf at Rathmines, it's too shallow for you.
I just scraped in with 1.4 m draft and almost went aground turning into the inside of the wharf on the north side.
Yes we went on the outside but the Lake was very high and we only just had water under the keel so F wharf is a bit iffy.
Wangi Workers have a shower available as well as power and cheap, very cheap. Wangi RSL is also good, can't recall about the power though.
Don't forget to book the Swansea Bridge, and if you draw 6ft, go in on the flood close to high tide.
Lake Mac is a huge place, and a fantastic cruising ground, have fun!
