Hi All,
Does anyone have a solution, remedy, concoction, what ever, that is a simple solution to removing bird poo from the top of your boat , something that doesnt hurt the gel coat but at least softens the stuff so it can be washed off??
Hope you all have a fantastic EASTER ans safe sailling.![]()
Wet the poo, let soak for ten then hit with a small high preasure cleaner. We have a real bird problem and need to clean the boat 2 to 3 times a week. We also keep the smooth gelcoat well polished, this helps from staining. I try not to use chemical cleaners as these seam to knock the polish about.
Ben405,
I have some Green Cleaner that we can try , I'll leave it on the seat at the front door, if you want it this weekend.

As above, wet it, keep it wet for ten minutes then scrub it with a piece of old, or new if you have some, carpet. A piece about eight by four folded in half. Use the pile side not the hessian bit. Also the best way to get bugs off've your car.
Cheers John
Maybe the red thats been filtered through the system might remove the pooh thats if Poods filter system is working!![]()
The boat alongside ours at The Spit, bred them. We used PeterGs Scuff Orf to great effect. Available from Whitworths.
I kept a spray pack and a small brush handy, bucket to rinse off.
Hi Guys, Thanks for some great feed back, i wish i could sail a lot more often to reduce the oppertunity of the birds to find a good place to ****, but some of us still have to work (unfortunatly) but thanks for the good info, happy sailing![]()

Wet area and maintain moisture to soften....then use Jiff and scrub with green soft scourer...
works well for my deck..
