Hi seems we have bought a catamaran in Queensland and will be sailing it back to NZ in September. Was looking at getting some spare just in case gear for the crossing and limited by the freight costs if bringing it over on the flight to Brisbane. So was wondering if anyone has a back shed like mine where they may have some excess gear to sell. Possibly a liferaft, mainsail and headsail etc off something around 35 to 45 ft,multi or mono.but not a roachy main, autopilot parts? Sails would most likely just sit under the table and I have a new storm jib and tri sail, but even some spare lines could be useful. I will be driving from Brisbane to Hervey Bay late August so could picjk gear up if it was on the way. Some of the gear you see dumped in marina bins could be very useful if you get a few break downs half way across.![]()
Try Great Circle Liferafts for hire of Liferafts, PLB,s and EPIRBs. Otherwise you can air/sea freight your own stuff from NZ to Oz in time for your trip.
The other place to try for renting a liferaft is Marine Safe Australia. Ask for Peter Cambell Byrnes. Top bloke to deal with and tell him I sent you.

Thanks for that. Have found some extra sails, hiring a sat phone, got epirbs, and are looking at prices to buy a liferaft.
