I removed an ancient solar panel from my deck. Unfortunately it was not only screwed down but siliconed as well.
The deck surface is rough, non slip, to increase my misery, when l scrape most of the gue off, still some discoloured residue remains in the creases.

Short of experimenting with chemicals or wire brushing it, is there any known method to clean it up thoroughly? Preferably without damaging the surface.

When you say silicone do you mean "Silastic" type silicone? If so then Selleys make a product called .. wait for it .......... Silicone Remover, I have used it on the dashboard of a car and all the Silastic came of and there was NO mark to show that it had ever been there. Should be available in any decent hardware store, from memory I think I purchased mine in Mitre 10 but the Big Green Shed Company should have it as well. The APN is 9300697115690

Slice as much of the old stuff off as you can, it speeds the process up by not having to remove all the overburden first.

This is what you are looking for ......

How could one go wrong with such expert's advise...

The finesse and sophistication of the screw driver, let alone the angle grinder tuched me deeply...thanks a million!
