Yesterday i could hear a rattle inside the tiller pilot when moving it around inside the cabin. ive just opened it up and found a pin about 2 inches long just floating around inside the thing. its still working, but surely this pin comes from somewhere and shouldnt be loose inside the unit. Any ideas?
Fixed. Ww werent any help. Manager talked of a tv he bought from jb hifi and how long his warranty claim took and how i could expect the same from ww. Simrad sent a service manual and offered solutions to quickly fix/replace if need be.
So my idea of buying from ww is pointless. Couldve bought unit online from the usa for 300 cheaper and recieved same support from navico. Ill remember this for next time.
Too late for you I know, but I found Raymarine's warranty turnaround on my ST2000+ was pretty good. Which is just as well as these babies have inherent design flaws that will show up under heavy use. If you're interested, a search on tiller pilot threads will show you my somewhat informed rantings on the subject.
Raymarine also offer a world-wide warranty, so buying cheap from OS is worthwhile. Simrad's warranty is return to purchase location.
Cheers, Graeme

Simrad said i could return to navico and they would return following day.
Raymarine's warranty service seems real good. It was nothing anyway. Just a pin dislodged that separates the cases. Luckily got it sorted before it lodged itself in the motor.
