The moral of the story is if your going to steal a boat, sail it in a seaman like manner. Well done to the young observer and reader of sailing forums.
On ya Mate!
You can borrow my anchor chain to keel haul them.
Both of them! ![]()
There was a segment on TV a person in N.Z. offered a reward for his capture of $50,000 so I hope the spotter gets his reward ![]()
I don't quite get the outcome of this story. He admitted to authorities in NSW, that he did not pay for the yacht.
(It is also interesting that the SMH only report today on the outcome made in October.)

WTF is going on here. He said, I said, they said. Sounds like everyone including the public are confused after the legal guys got into the act. Would have made a good theme for Rumpole of the Bailey.
The original article said Harlec was a cruising cutter and someone verified the photos. The latest article, which was confusing, said it was supposed to be a ketch. Doesn't make sense because the photo the kid took is very clearly not a ketch.

The news paper just wants to sell papers they write any thing to sell one
I watch "media watch" on ABC its a joke what some papers write. They tend to write some thing about nothing when there have to much blank space and that's the truth Some times it snow balls and it ends up on channel 7 or 9
any thing to get people attentions these days .
and sell a paper or an advert
1/2 truths and less

+1 HG. I reckon schools should air an occasional media watch episode to all the kids, so they learn not to trust TV and printed media but to check the facts for themselves. I cannot believe the recklessness of modern media organisations in their rush to be the "first" to publish a story.
Sorry for the thread highjack, we will return to normal programming......
