Hi all.
Im in negotiations on this Tophat which has expired REgo. Just wondering if a boat is out of reg, does it have to have a survey, or do you just renew the registration?

(Long Version) The Qld Government doesn't require a survey to register your boat but the insurance company may do so if you want to insure it.

I bought a Qld boat, out of rego for six years and no rego papers, just a dodgy email receipt.

Registered it in NSW after having it inspected and a new plate fitted with HIN. The inspection is just to make sure details are correct, LOA, beam, displacement etc.

Then sign a stat. dec. to say it's yours and job done.
