u should be watching on abc,I love the hawkesbery .......not the best acting like vikings and game of thromes but sloweley getting better.,.
We watched it too. They did a great job of finding shots with no man made stuff, or photoshopped them out.
i absolutely loved it. was great to get an idea of what things where like at the beginning of colonisation up there in pitttwater/hawkesburry.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I am not much of a TV person so wasn't aware of this program.
Apart from the fact that I love the Broken Bay/Hawksbury area I am also very interested in early Australia.
It is great to see a program that portrays the early days as well as the interaction between European and indigenous Australians.
I watched the first two episodes today in Iview and cant wait for next week.
i think thats it. 2 episodes only .................. i watched the last one only, ithought it was a very good show ....... Tim minchin was good as the dirty rotten bastard !!!
Kinda interesting to see how and who became the wealthy in australia .sydney especially. Brothel owners. Crims and scumbags simply cause they took what they could.
200 years later and what's changed?
It was a TV show, authors interpretation of events.
If you Google it you will see that it is from a fictional book.

Yeah but it was in colour wasn't it ..... surely that would make it true.
Worse things happened to the aborigines actually. And australia was settled by convicts who did in fact become wealthy through many unsavoury means.
lol, I loved it.
I liked the setting and I liked the story.
You can see it from both sides and emphase with both sides.
There is a great series of books by Tom Keneally that deals with early Australia and covers the era of Govenor King. They are a bit of an eye opener.
Glenville Pike and Hector Holthouse are two of a number of good authors covering this era.
Good reading for those that are interested in early Aus.
If anybody is interested in some of the early history of Brisbane get a book named "The Mayne Inheritance".
It is a fascinating story and beats any fiction you like to read. You can buy it at the art gallery in the basement of the old Customs House.
The Settler series of books by William Stuart Long (actual name Vivian Stuart) are a series of historical novels tracing the colonisation of he Sydney area from before the first Fleet to mid 1800s. It is an excellent and accurate portrayal of early Sydney.

It was more like TV producers interpretation of book. I read book a couple of years ago and I don't think they ended up happily ever after land owners. A good read.
If you do iview you should watch the "extras" to it.
Interviews with actors, directors and producers through whom you will see the importance of this series being made.
