Hi, I am interested in any advice that you can give me on a sailing dingy for me and my partner. I have a small amount of sailing experience, but not much, and my partner has none, so i want something easy to sail, can be sailed single handed, but is comfortable for 2 people.
Also, should i join a sailing club, and if so, can someone recomend a good one in perth?

I've been racing dingys and small skiffs for about 10 years now. During that time I've found that the NS14 and the MG14 are great dingys for a novice. They are easy to sail but hard to sail fast. They also don't handle too bad when sailed without the jib for solo sailing. You can usually pick a good one up for about $1500 give or take. This figure is based on NSW. Also if you wish to realy learn how to sail correctly and efficiently, I would reccomend joining your local YAC. They will happily take you in and teach you properly.

I'd choose your sailing club first and your boat second.
Visit at least three sailing clubs and see which gives off the best vibe. Then make sure they've got a good fleet of doublehanded boats for people to sail (they're bound to). Get one of them and you'll have lots of fellow club members who will be keen to help and to get you involved.

If you want to sail on the river, I would suggest you talk to Mounts Bay Yacht club or Perth Dinghy. They seem to have the best fleets of 2 man dinghys.
The other option is to come to Nedlands Yacht Club around the corner. We have 125's (2 person dinghy) or many types of catamarans.
Either way I am certain whichever club you choose will guide you in the right direction for type of boat.
