What are these like? Im after a light wind board lake board to get me out in gusty conditions up to about 18kts.I have a waveboard for above that.Im a 66kg female.
In my opinion I wouldnt think you need anything more than 105ltrs.. you do only weigh 66kgs!
The last board I have ridden is a 96 model caveman waveboard..my other ..I have NO idea of modern boards..My current board is 23inches wide..not much good with centimetre conversions.I just realised this board isnt much wider than the one I have 58.5mm and mine is only slightly longer at 256cms..maybe it wont do the job..
i'm 87kg and ride a starboard carve 99litre... which is about 56cm wide and 260 long from memory... Anyway i can easily get on the plane on it in 18 knots with a 7.4m sail and a bit of tlc... The sail is too big for the board... but it can work...
At 66kg i'd go smaller! i love small boards!
I had a 100 litre compact move back when I was a (returning to windsurfing) newbie 5 years ago. For the life of me, I couldn't make it turn to gybe. Seemed very reluctant, and used to sort of 'trip over' if you tried to push it hard into the turn (catch a rail?).
Anyway, so then I got a 92 litre JP wave as well, and found I could sail that in most planing conditions (> 15 knots - I'm 92kgs) with my biggest sail (6.2 m) anyway. Thing was, that was no drama to get turning to initiate the gybe, at all.
I sold the compact move quick smart. I'd be interested to know how i'd go on it now that I can actually gybe. Back then though, I thought it was a dog.
Thanks.Ive got a board that i can plane on when it gets to 15kts but its a sinker..i just want a low stress board that i can use in gusty conditions or 8kts + that wont sink, is stable, but when it hits 12kts+ etc is fun. I live an hour from the water & Im sick of driving down & then shovelling around wearing myself out trying to stay upright on my board. Plus watching others out planing around..If I have a bigger board the trip wont be wasted as I can at least get out & sail, even if it is just to enjoy the lovely sunny day .
I could just buy a trifin or something but if Im going to outlay $ it would be nice to benefit from the 14years of R & D that have occurred since I got my board..
