2 pieces board

Did anybody come across two pieces boards that can be assembled like a mast ofr expamle?
If could save a lot of space if we could divide our board into two pieces.
Ok i can hear voices that will add 1 kg weight to the construction due to hinges and mounts but hey we can have 140 cm long pack inside car easy then.
I am sure it can be done and somebody did try already....
otherwise I am ready to cut my old longboard in half to try out.

From a packaging point of view, the whole package will still only be as short as the longest piece, which is half a mast length.

From an engineering point of view, the mast is the last thing you'd want to make "two-piece".

How old is your mast if you haven't got a 2 piece one?

My oldest mast is a CK95 460. Don't use it anymore it's gone dodgy at the ferrule. I was just noting that 2 piece masts are a huge compromise for the sake of packaging.

What about two piece lengthwise? A wide board/narrow board combination - great for taking on the plane. Just have 2 starboard sides. The fin and mast track would of course be biased a little to starboard with the narrow combination and a little to port for the wide combination. Shouldn't matter. You're pretty handy with a circular saw Keef ?

There was a thread a long time ago about two piece windsurfers but I recall the majority of board makers agreeing that the joint could never stand up to the stresses of windsurfing. I reckon though if you made the joint forward of the mast track you could effectively have replacement noses for your board. Great for intermediates who are prone to regular catapults and nose crunches.

Ok even better. lets do 3 pieces board then.
This way you can replace nose - not only when damaged but from waves to flat water, and back of the board too for different gybing or planing.
Breaking stress to the board will be not as big as division going in the middle.
Since mast could be 3 pieces too, I can not only imagine collapsible or zipp-able sails.
Than "JP Titanium" make perfect sens as only material that can withstand stress on joints.

Good idea having the nose detachable. There are probably less stresses up front than in the middle or at the back. A detachable nose could get a board under 2 meters long, making it much easier to store.

That is not always true, I chop nose of my 130L fanatic 3 times (at catapults) .
First was standard nose splitting and bleeding, then after repair with fiberglass I thought is was nondestructive.
So board just brake 20 cm below and across whole board this time then after solid repair next 5 cm lower again.
Now I think should be indestructible indeed. I broke 2 mast since then

and nose still standing.

I picked up an 'Aquaglide' a couple of years ago (similar to the one in the link)...kids love it, and the rig is light enough for my 7yo to handle on his own!

Wow....just wow. You do also realise that the board is only as strong as it's weakest link? Which in this case is the section right adjacent to your repair? Hence why you strengthened it, it cracked behind it, you strengthened it again, it cracked behind it. It will snap off again behind your current repair if you hit it hard enough; you will require more force as the board is getting thicker, hence stronger as your repairs approach the mast :o

Given you have snapped the nose off 3 times and broken 2 masts it maybe time for a technique re-think? Just saying.

The only way it would ever work would be to have the section in front of the mast detach, as stated above, but man it would be messy I reckon; first big catapult and I reckon it would be goooooooooone. Boards are short these days, none of my current boards are >232cm long, at that length you can even fit them inside a Hyundai getz.
