We went to New Cal a couple of years ago, not for the sailing - just a holiday, but ended up getting some great sailing. That spot is awesome, lots of big chop out to the island and some fun waves on the island's left. Tradewind like clockwork and so many sailors it was an awesome vibe. Heaps of places to hire very modern gear at very reasonable prices. I was stoked and cant wait to get back there. Etched in my memory was one arvo I was on a 4.5m and 72l waveboard, which doesnt happen ever when I live in NSW and weigh 93kg - warm water, warm wind, great food........paradise for a travelling sailor.
Hi Sean, is the main wind season same as in Oz? Do you normally sail through winter? (Im sure its not a real winter tho
) - what are chances of wind say June, July, August?

I don't know of the wind season in Oz, here it's really good from november to april (full on !)
For the period you mention it would be too bloody cold to windsurf, outside temp would be 20/25°C and water 20°C.... not worth it, you'd have to wear a wetsuit !!!
Wind would be okay, as mentionned it is pretty much clockwork, in winter I mainly use my 7.8.
Like I said, kiters are not allowed on this side of the bay, anyway there's far too much chop for them.....
Had to go back to the office today, same conditions, just 25 guys/girls on the water. I had the flat water spot (second island in background) just for myself for 2 hours....
The guy with the cap is Laurent Gauzere, does the rrd/loft rental, fastest guy on the water... (he finished 3rd at the Défi Wind last year)
Used to be on the world cup years ago.
Yeah, nearly hit one about the same size up at Hawkes Nest a couple of months ago.
Love your office. I learnt (or tried to) there back in the 80's. Must go back.
How much is the hire of gear at the beach on Anse Vata & is it per hour/day etc
Fly accomodation packages are only about $1100 for 8 days.

A bit more easterly today so had to stay around the first island....
I'm not sure about the prices Wine man, around 30$/hour is my guess, but you get discounts at sp8ce (rrd/loft) when you mention my name and how cool I am !! ask DRIFT from victoria he even had a freestyle session with Laurent.
Any hotel on anse vata is just a stroll from the rental guys.
