Artificial Speed Runway

It is pity that Australia so big and flat don't have one yet.
Possibly all speed records now are done on the artificial dig out channel.
If we could dig a few in star configuration there will suit any wind direction.

As long as we could keep water clear of crocks and cane toad should be feasible here
We have got some spectacular places natural spots though but travel across with full gear is the problem.
We could build runway for every state I guess ..
Mayby flooding old minining site is good begining or government sponsored irrigation channels ?

Kyeemagh, Botany Bay already has an artificial speed runway, a byproduct of an airport runway. A great broad reach on a NE wind down the runway. The issue is getting a consistent gust to get you all of 1.8kms down from one end to the other.

Compared to southern France most places in Australia don't get consistent strong winds. Maybe the west coast of Tassie would be the go.

get the airport to line up a couple of 747's angled down the run

Maybe they could build one when they dredge the channel at safety bay
