yeah, they can verify using a GPS, the trimble is the same as on MI's and hydroptere's.

Just a bloody expensive , accurate piece of gear.

I cant believe he didnt sheet on and let rip, at least get the thing foiling for the media.

It looks like it has bugger all wing area - if the thing cant go in 30 how is supposed to go in 20?

I wondr how fast that kite was going. those windows on the pod look like my kids were in there having a too long hot shower .some vents would be a good start and some tinting, some flat water as you pointed out,
Still ,good luck , and good on y ou's for trying

But a tall narrow wing doesnt have a lot of low speed grunt to pus you up onto the foils. with a good chop slamming you back ,maybe they couldnt get up on the foils.
The wing would need a steady wind /surface conditions and some distance to wind it up.

They need about 200m of shark nets. Seriously. They halt the chop.

Looked up Wiki to see what there is out there on supercavitation - not much. From what I can gather its main purpose is to get a superbubble on the low pressure side which doesn't collapse and cause damage until the foil is clear. Deliberately inducing cavitation also bypasses a normal foils unpredictable behavior at ~50 knots. But the compromise is they have to have a high angle of attack and so a lower lift to drag ratio.

So getting the craft foiling might be the crux of the matter. Maybe it'll do 5 knots or 55 knots but nothing in between? 55 knots or bust. Good on 'em. Oi! Oi! Oi!.

Do the rules prohibit it being dropped from a mother ship at 40 knots?
No different from jettisoning bits as the speed rises.
As for supercavitation, big difference between 1000 horsepower to make a torpedo go fast and the 10 horsepower they have to play with.
OOps! Back to the drawing board...

Or tow it up to planing speed with a kite Sorry I just remembered this is the windsurfing fourum. As long as they wore boardies over thier sailing gear that would surely be allowed in the rules
