With winter just around the corner I knocked up one of these to give me those good windsurfing feelings through the dark, windless winter months.

Everyone should make one and we'll all have BIs the size of watermelons for spring '09.

Use of harness is optional...

Looks like FUN!

But, why not use one side of an old boom, instead of a straight iron bar, for a more realistic feeling? That way you could have authentic windsurfing callouses all year round!

One of the UK gurus had an article on jumping where he actually used the rear half of an old board which had been cut in two; you'd put your feet in the straps and hang from a chin-up bar, building leg and torso strength by lifting the board with your feet...

(you lunatic...)

I'm calling it my "winter rig". I plan to get out on it 2-3 times per week.

I just habitually carry my briefcase (full of stuff / laptop / tools / cds etc...) with my arm bent rather than dangling. I use one arm until it starts to hurt and then swap to the other. I think it makes a difference when you do it all the time. I bought a new one and they suggested one with wheels when they saw how much stuff I carried. I think they wondered why I was so negative about that idea.

Be careful. You'll do your back in one day like that. Just when you least expect it, you'll grab that heavy bag in one hand and..."F#################K! MY BACK!!!"

The centre of the bar is between the two joists for a reason.

I plan on hooking and out in between reps. FUN!!!!

If you cant do what ikw777 has done, get an old or busted boom and tie some rope around either end and hang off tree, garage or such.
Anchor your feet against object and do lots of pull ups or just hang with your weight. Simulates the windsurfing and helps keep your callouses happening.
Plus it helps to reinforce your neighbours opinion that your nuts!!

Love the set up .... are you using a waist or seat harness with it??

oh yeh .... and what line length have you decided to go with because I heard line length can affect your upwind ability and from the look of that set up you have NO CHANCE of getting up wind!!!

........ couldn't resist

Those are 26 inchers and I'll be using a seat harness of course (they are making a comeback). I don't believe the long lines will cause any impediment to going upwind. The fact that the whole thing is screwed to the house however, well that may pose some difficulties! Nevertheless I think the whole thing should be at least as fast as the average kite set up.

Heres what i do in winter
i drink piss and play online video games like battlefeild this keeps me fit.
Once i have sore legs or am to drunk to ride, been banned for teamkilling, abusive language,or pawning to many NOOBS. I breakdown the exercise bike and then annoy people on seabreese.

the going rate is 5 situpsups per death this is done of the highly engineered gaffertaped paint roller

or..5 push ups every death

i use a body board which is cut out and fits on the handlebars of my exercise bike.
im on my third exercise bike now 2 of them couldnt handle the kilometres and

broke ;-(

Let me get this straight - you drink beer and exercise at the same time, while playing computer games??

Multi-tasking!

Dude, might I suggest you get yourself a bong - then you won't need to exercise cos you won't be drinking those extra calories!

here is an example of me riding
unfortunatly a stubbie holder is optional and the screen resolution is that of a commodore 64 ;-)

i try and promote exercise to people playing these games aswell as some of the spend all day on there computer playn so if u have any nerd friends get them to set up a busternator and they will end up loosing weight and feeling better and gaining fitness.

if uhave kids make them play videogames but make them ride the EXERCISE BIKE this will certainly deter them from being around the computer and will promote outside activity if not they will benafit reguardlessly.
i dont think it is a problem on this site because most people are active and healthty and that refelects

Buster, you should hook that bike up to a couple of batteries for alternative energy to power your home and reduce your power bill...go pedal power!
