I found a clean and simple shot of Bonaire's Caesar throwing an anklebiter...here it is straight and in slow motion, if you like this sort of thing (I do). Good to study if you're working on the move.

Are all these 'new' moves being catalogued anywhere? Royn Barthodi has a bunch of moves on his site, but they're mostly the classic stuff, and it doesn't appear to have been updated in a while.
I taught myself a lightwind freestyle trick that I'd never seen before (it just occurred to me while cruising across the harbour one day), and then thought 'I wonder if anyone else does those', but couldn't find it anywhere. It's more of a shinbiter with a cowboy style behind the back rig flip.. Not as cool as the anklebiter, but still..
Donkey gybe?! I thought that was the Monkey gybe, the essex duck that is.
The "hoss" tack is an understandable error. The planing push tack is attributed to a Moroccan bloke named Haas (sp?) which is indistinguishable from "hoss" when said with an American accent to my ear.
I've noticed "vulcan" is often called "volcan" or even "volcano".
Any others? How many spellings are there for gybe?
So three 5s, this trick of yours, how does it go? I'm imagining you're sailing along on a beam reach and then somehow get to do a cowboy rig flip from the wrong side of the sail, and somehow your ankles are endangered. Does it involve a step around the front or a step over the mast like a Jizz?
Re Caesar, he's been asking if anyone would be interested in a Caesar clinic in Bonaire:

It's the wrong side of the world for this forum, but FYI.
Re Monkey jibe vs. essex duck vs donkey jibe, I thought the monkey jibe didn't have a duck in it...you just step around the mast bringing the clew with you, vs donkey/essex duck, in which it's initiated with a duck.
I agree with the NZ ocker mate above, that there is a need for a nomenclature of sorts.
All this naming is getting wayyyy out of control. Look at all the fora: it is clear people are getting lost on the Web all over with the petty names. "I thought it was this" "no in fact it was that."
Flakas, cowboy, doodah. "The skinny mountain goat", "the snake that barks at the moon", "the one-eyed wombat", and so on. Pet names are fun, coz they're often short, sometimes even monosyllabic. But let's face it: not a single one of them means anything.
Seriously, there used to be such a nomenclature for freestyle in a 1980-ish book by one Gary Eversole. Yes, around 1980, and scurvy was still a health threat then. Yet me reckon this naming still applies, I use it for my (few) articles.
Not sure that it would apply to all this new board stuff, but I think it would go a long way. Names are longer, but more descriptive and more independent from the context. In particular, all 4 body positions, sail and board directions are taken into account.
OK, where's me tinny...
