Hi all please beware there is someone out there trying to scam people i have had this happen twice now i am trying to sell a board and they want me to pay $810 for private courier before i can get the money for the board this is the email i got last

Thanks for the swift response...I am willing to buy the Falcon now and i will like to know the present condition..But due to the nature of my job and location...i will not be able to come for inspection,am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it.

As for the payment..i will be paying you via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal).

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made ...so no shipping included.

You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply. If you don't have a paypal account, you can easily set up one...log on to www.paypal.com.au and sign up. its very easy.I await your reply asap.

Then you get sent a Fake Paypal Receipt.

I really hope no-one gets stuck by this idiots.

Take care all

and then what? If you said nothing would they send around a courier to pick up the board?

or do they send you a receipt for more and ask you to send them the 'extra' money back as cash?

It could be a good chance to send back sold old rubbish and some pieces of paper with $50 written on them

They send u a receipt for an extra $850 and ask u 2 send $810 into a western union account at the post office and im guessing once u send the $810 thats the last u will hear from them.

turn the tables on them, ask for a small deposit on the board, a show of good faith, someone else is interested in it etc before u send the 850 for the courier, if they are dumb enough to send it(cash only) say thanks ssucker and buy a new uni or something.
sounds similar to the ones from africa about money owed to u , just need to send them some first.
if people get sucked into these scams they are greedy and deserve to be taken for a ride.

You have to be kidding me... I got the same email in response to a listing. It did not sound right and I am a seasoned EBAY trader. I called the mobile listed, and had incoming call restrictions... And he offered me MORE than what I had listed the kite surfer for.

SO YES - IT IS A SCAM.

THANKS FOR THE WARNING.

There is a similar scam that they try on motels. They book a number of rooms for substantial mount of money. Pay for it with a skimmed credit card and then cancel the booking (offering you a cancellation fee) then have you return the money via Western union account (untraceable)

I reckon it would be the same with your board. Use a skimmed card on a dodgy paypal account then do the same re the refund.

Make good shark burley those blokes[}:)]

I just got sent the same scam! Trying to sell a KTM on ebay and had the exact same offer to come pick it up from a freight company and send to the UK!!

I told them to meet me at the local petrol station and bring cash only...
no response!

I get these weekly, somebody wanting to book 10 people for 4 weeks of Windsurfing lessons in August???

Thanks for putting up what happens next I was always a bit curious how they would get any money out of it.

The weirdest thing of all is that they find enough suckers to make it worthwhile to keep doing it.
