This subject was spoken about in detail when allocating the money.
The main reason for this is the numbers of the lady entrants. For example last year from memory we only had 5 women from approximately 170 competitors.
However if the women’s division grows over the years the prize money will increase for the women.
As I'm up there with a chance......If I win it, I will certainly donate the money back into the prize pool![]()
Hey Hards - is that if you win the women's races that you will donate the prize back into the prize pool![]()
Hi Guys,
The best is to register early then you will get a better start position. Plus from our point of view we can get a lot more organized... which always helps.
However worst case you can register on the morning of the event.
You should come up no matter what the forecast as it will be the biggest classic in the 25 year history
See you all at the event.
All the best,
Rob
Hi Rob,
How can we tell if we've registered?
I put my details on the website, clicked "Submit", and was taken back to that same page. Was there an error? Did it work? Do you have my details? Who can tell me if I need to register again?
Anecdotal evidence from previous years suggests that it did in fact go through, but I have absolutely no way of knowing.
Can I pay online? If so, what is my confirmation number so that I can put that on the electronic transfer?
This is what I was referring to about sorting out the registration process. I brought this up in a previous thread, where someone from the lancelin chamber of commerce replied, and she said that it would be looked at, do you know if it's been sorted out yet?
Hi Nebbian,
When did you sign up as it should be sorted now? As soon as you register you should now receive a confirmation.
If you can send me a personal email I will double check that you are locked in.
Sorry for the confusion I agree the process had problems.
Hopefully it is ok now.
Regards,
Rob
Hi Rob
Looks like this year will be huge.
Are you going to do anything for the juniors in either the race or the waves? There are now a few younger crew racing like Matt G and Jet, amongst others. It would be good to ecourage the participation of the next generation.
Not aimed as a criticism, just a suggestion. It is all good and well to have heaps of exposure but having the seasonal pros fly in take all the cash and fly out again, doesn't encourage the weekend warriors to have a go.
How about one or two good spot prizes for all the average punters that finish the race, knowing they would never be in the top of the fleet but are joining in for the fun.
Should be a massive weekend for all involved.
Hi Paul,
All your points are valid.
We need to have a balance of the Pro's and the weekend warriors. We need the Pro’s as they attract the Media which allows us to get coverage... which then allows us to get major sponsors... which then allows us to grow the event each year.
However I have definitely not forgotten the average sailor as I am one of them.
You can be assured we will look after the younger crew the enter the race. We also run a kids have a go day on the Sunday of the event which last year attracted 70 kids that had never Windsurfed before.
We also had to be careful with boosting the open division cash prizes as this then attracts some of the elites into that category as it would be easy money for them to win... which we think is unfair on the true Open sailors.
I am always open to suggestions and take them all on board thank you for your support it should be a great event.
Rob
