Hi everyone, I have been using a pryde x6 wave boom for 3 years and I was using pryde sails as well until switching to severe this year, with the boom 3cm longer than recommended the sail still rubs on the boom, with it on the recommended setting it is so hard on the boom the sail creases in it. To set it so it sets off the boom I end up with no power! Does anyone know if the pryde booms are skinnier than others? My new sail is getting a permanent crease :(

I don't yet know what sizes your have as the x6 goes from 140 to 250ish. But for the smaller sizes the Pryde is not narrower than booms with the proper shape. (I refuse to call them 'new school').
The sail touching the boom is a necessary evil when reducing the boom width. Getting close to the rig is more important than keeping the sail off the boom. Something Pryde had backwards with the last X6, you could jump a donkey through those!!
I use the S-1 and the Redline boom will touch the sail, when bagged out it's almost at the harness lines. I don't look that close but there may be some creases..
This is perfectly normal and my old Gaastra Manics/Poisons, MS Legends and North Ices, all touched the boom…
But you could have an extreme case, what sail, mast and what sizes?
Maybe I'm just worried about my new gear, I have the new severe 400 with 5.3 blade, not sure if it happens on the 4.7. Cheers for the reply, might try a little less downhaul next time out.
