Cairns in winter

have an opportunity to go (come) to Cairns for work. Any local windsurfing community about, where do ya sail???Was at Lake Tinnaroo quite a few years back

green island is the best spot. winter time is 20-40 knots nearly every day!

Absolutely honking. But take your own gear. They won't hire it out if there is a strong wind warning.
...And it's an offshore wind, so you need to be good.

If you're coming for work I guess you'll have your own gear so yeh bring that. Winter is our season so you'll get a sail for sure. The dam is fair, Yorkey's is good and Green is the duck's nuts. Search the photo section for my username and you'll get an idea of our local conditions. When you get here give me a yell, I'll look after you.

I worked out last year from the GPS Challenge that the windsurfing nirvarna for Australia is FNQ in winter and the WA in summer.

If you can organise a winter job in Cairns and a summer job around perth, are a windsurfer, have a loving partner, and finish at 3pm you are set for an incredible life.
