Hey guys,
We here in Canberra are trying to get a windsurfing club up and running, To get an idea if it would be possible we have started a web site to see if there would be enough of an interest. I know there is a lot of sailors in Canberra and there once was a strong following, Now is the time for us to come together again. So if you frequent the lakes of the ACT, have a think about joining the web site and then we'll see where we can take it from there. Or maybe your an ex-patriot of Canberra and just want to have a look for nostalgic reason, our maybe there's someone you want to catch up with, Why not check it out as well. If anyone has some stories or pictures from back in the day I would be interested in posting them on the page.
If anyone out there has some tips on starting a club from the ground up I'd appreciate any help we could get. Things like who do we need to be registered with, how we go about insurance, what other legal hurdles do we face and what sort of a financial situation we need to be in?
Any feedback would be appreciated....Jase.

Great web site you guys have I like it dudes..
By the way I like the name ''Blue Gum blasters'' the best for one of the new names for your site..
Thanks to all who payed a visit to the site, We managed to pick up a new member so that's awesome. It was good to see visitors from not only around Australia but around the world as well.
Cheers to all from the Canberra Windsurfers Club.
No worries. Also check out free legal aid places - they usually have lawyers and accountants who can help you with structure advice.
Some accountants and lawyers might even do some probono work to set you up.
Don't ask, don't get ![]()
Jason, you should get in touch with the Australian Windsurfing Association. They pretty much exist to coordinate the sport across the country and also provide insurance to member clubs.
Perhaps your club could fall under Windsurfing NSW? www.windsurfingnsw.com/
the AWA website is www.windsurfing.org/
good luck, being part of a great windsurfing club is a fantastic experience!
