Been hunting for a board to fill my gap between my JP 103 and large Formula board. Been looking at some old Carves and other freerides around 111 to 115.
I'm 96kg, I may occassionly put on a bigger fin and slightly oversized rig of 8.5 metres. I want a board that is as small as possible but I won't have to swim in when the wind drops. I understand some people get a kick out of being able to uphaul a board while sinking to their thighs. I can occassionally successfully uphaul my small board while sinking badly but is it nightmare to balance and get any forward motion in minimal wind. If i have to uphaul a lot I don't want it to be too much of a challenge.
Question is with my weight, and large rig should a 111 or 115 be a decently steady uphaul? I understand the maths (litres/kilos, etc) but would like to hear peoples experiences.

118 L JP SS with 7.5 NP V8 easy up haul im 87 kgs
110 JP Xcite with 6.5 NP V6 sweet also, not so good with 7.5 but still do able
I am 97kg and I can uphaul a 115 litre F2 ride with a 7m Ezzy Freeride sail.
It's a bit of a struggle but it is more of a balance problem rather than sinking which i guess is due to the lack in width of the borad

Hhmm yeah pretty much what I thought. I think 111 is going to be a wobbling pain in the butt particularly with chop. I think I should look at 115 minimum for a decently comfortable uphaul. 120 is probably ideal, however the bigger 2nd hand boards seem to get more expensive.

I'm 78kgs and can uphaul easy-peasy on a starboard carve 111. As in totally dry.
Is it really 111 litres though because there is a marked difference between that and my 98 JP FSW?
I am 96kgs 
too and I was out on a 116L Mistral Syncro on the weekend. When there is some wind, even if not planing, the board rides above the water. When there is no movement of the board at all then it would sink.
The wind was light and when I had to uphaul once instead of water starting, the board would sink and it was a bit of work to uphaul. This was with a 6.5m sail and a nice light mast. Once moving it would rise out of the water.
If you really want a board that is easy to uphaul in next to no wind, I would look for something around 120L. I have three boards around 115L and they all react the same.
I think with the larger boom, mast, and sail, 115L will be too small for you. My next board up is 135L and easily floats me, but I don't think you would need to go up that far in volume.
I'm 95kg and have a 116ltr F2 Ride, With a 7mtr sail I can uphaul it but I wouldnt want to have any less volume. Boyancy would also be affected by the boards own weight.

My old board was 131, very confortable to uphaul so I'm thinking I could go slightly smaller and still uphaul with only minimal wobble factor. Yeah I think 120L is the mark.

I got a Supersport 118L for just the same reason, at 94 kg its just right for me to wobble home on when the wind dies out, uphauling is no problem.
