I've been talking to few people but I thought I'd get some more feedback. Weather permitting I will be going 'bushwalking / car camping 'at Crowdy head next weekend.I thought I'd take the board and try & get a sail while I was there. Not keen on surf especially in offshore breezes.
Any suggestions? Someone suggested the river...? I suppose I could call in at Wallis Lakes on the way too..If it blows it will prob be either W's ( NW - SW) or S / SE..
Any local info appreciated. Also would the river be cold like a lake or warmed by ocean ( if its close to the coast).
Yay! Someone answered..What's Old Bar like? I assume it's river sailing? What winds does it work in?

You probably have three options. The closest is the river around Harrington, its probably a similar drive of at least half an hour to either Old Bar or Queens Lake.
That would be Rob C, ex Narrabeen local wave sailor and fellow Maui visitor with us blokes. When I was there a few years ago it was way to shallow and kites were the only ones able to sail. Rob reckons now its unreal and we will be making the trek up this summer. Plus Wallis lake is great fun in a nor-easter with long runs and consistent wind from the sailing club and Tiona park.
I pm'd Gidget earlier. My trip was cancelled due to the wet..Luckily so as Gidget said the river mouth is usually 300m & it was 1 1/2 kms wide brown , fast flowing with hay bales and fridges going past! Wouldn't it be fun trying to waterstart & a fridge whacks you in the head!![]()
