I might be headed up to Darwin to do some work seeing as there isnt much going on here.
What wind strengths am i going to be encountering??
what gear should i be taking??
Formula, big slalom, freestyle??
I'm thinking of buying myself a van and driving up!
If your lucky you will get some 15-20 south easters in the morning and maybe a seabreeze in the late arvo.
I would go for 90 litres plus slalom gear, but I've never used formula. Unlikely to need less than a 6.5 sail. South east is offshore so you need big enough gear to get back if the wind drops off (not an area you want to be swimming your gear back in).
Keep an eye on the bom site for what the wind is doing during the day. The wind doesn't change much for the next few months.

If you do get to Darwin get in touch as I live about 50k's down the track.
Gaz 's info is the way to go, especially for the dry season. Need to get the SE'ers winds in the mornings as it usually drops of by midday. Good place to sail is at the mouth of Rapid Creek. Plenty of parking and grass areas for rigging. Still a few sailors there and if the winds up you should catch them there.
If you hang around for the monsoon season get some good winds from the W and NW with some choppy waves to play in. Its warm all the time too. Have fun.
Does it have to be more or less than 15-20 crocs to be able to sail? Or am I just imagining that there's a potential problem?
