If the gadget is a GT-11, then the rightful owner should be able to tell you the name put in the unit under the settings menu.
If you have not set this on your Navi GT, then do it now!
Does it say "GT-11" on it somewhere? Was it floating, or left on the grass somewhere?
Are the batteries flat?
I'm trying to find who lost their GPS in a crash a couple of weeks ago, remember the post but can't find it online.
Well, I have tried to refrain from saying too much about it so I have a way for the owner to show me it is definitely his. Caller just now was a great help! He established it isn't his and helped me check it out, as I didn't know how to open it or access the settings or SD card. Charge was about 25% and I am now charging it.
User name is default so no help there.
And it was on the grass about 5m NE of the washdown point. I asked everyone nearby but no takers.
Chris,
If the owner has used and save tracks on his computer he will have a record of the unit serial number.
eg DAVID B_01003***_20080304_073846
where the 01003*** is the unit serial number (of course with numbers instead of *)
Maybe the retailers keep a record of the units serial numbers (for warranty) and who bought which one etc.
