I have a Fanatic Falcon 89 (2008). It says on the tail that it can take up to 7.5m sails. Given that it is a small board (61cm wide) do the normal fin size rules apply or should I go smaller?
I want to use this board with a 7.5m, well powered. What size slalom fin would be best for this board? I was thinking 37.5... would 40 be better?
I used to have a 2012 Falcon 99, 62 wide, and found a 36cm Meanline worked very well with the 7.3m. Given the boards are a similar width I would have suggested around 36cm for you. For reference, I am 90kg.
The Vector Australia website has a guideline that doesnt match up exactly with your dimensions (width/volume), but whether you look at volume or width the answer generally comes out at 36cm as well when using a 7.5 (for all of their slalom fins : Volt, Rockit or Canefire).

Interesting. I am 80kg. I do have a 34 S1 but have never tried this under the 7.5. I assume it's too small.
I used to drop to the 34 on the same board when I moved down to a 6.6. Being a bit lighter you may get away with the 34 with a 7.5....give it a run. I must add the caveat however that am not familiar with the S1 fin and how powerful they are. The Meanlines were quite punchy.
I have an old Falcon 90(2002 era) and there is no way I would put a 7.5m on it but yours sounds a bit wider. I use a 30-34cm slalom fin with a 6.7m and on the next size board up which is 63cm I use the 7.5m with a 36cm fin. Both work well if you sail them powered up.
Hi there! I use to have a 2012 Falcon 89 and i used a 7.5 with it few times it work fine with my Vector fin Volt 36 and 38 this fin is a very powerful and never spin out on me. I still think 7.5 a bit to big for an 89. Good luck.
