Last Day. Steve Allen (AUS-0) is 2nd, but has the best form going into the last days with a 1st and 3rd yesterday.
Anyone who knows Steve, knows he is the king of closing out the last day with a victory....Go Steve....

Casper wins it. In heat four he got a DNF because he gave his rig to his mate who broke his! What a top bloke Casper is. He also won a RSX world title, he's one of the best. Both dutchies, Casper and Dorian(Weymouth gold) for sure made each other who they are today.
Well done to all the Aussies. ![]()
Yeah... was pretty awesome to watch.
Interestingly Casper brought the Gaastra Vapor 2 and F2 boards to try out. He found the F2 with a massive (think it was a 76/70cm) fin was the best setup for the flat water, shifty winds. Albeau and Dagan had the Evo 6 proto's and Casper wasn't able to get one so used a production Evo 5 and beat all of them with it.
I told him he should just go over to Albeau's van and take all the protos out and say "I'll take these now...thanks".

Never look in the back of a strange Frenchman's van.
It's surprised me somewhat for a long time now how little press is given to Steve Allen - he's always up there at most international events he's competed in (PWA etc) and yet gets very little publicity compared to others who seem to be better at their own PR maybe (apart from seeing his name on my iSonics). I know windsurfing isn't exactly a mainstream sport in terms of the media opportunities but even within our community he seems to be ignored. Does he smell
or is he just really modest and goes about his business in the most unassumming way.
Anyhow just an observation and a big thumbs up for his 3rd place at the world titles. No small feat in anyone's language.
Steve is a superstar, he was on Dancing With The Stars (Poland)
Must have missed that series ![]()

Also Casper was using a 12m and Albeau and Dagan were using 12.5m

Yeah... you kinda have to do your own press in windsurfing. Even to get in the magazines or the videos at the events. The guys who actually go over and ASK to be interviewed get interviewed. Sad but true. Steve was at the World's with his whole family (inc the kids) so I imagine that eats up your time to go running after reporters!
Winner in Lightweight Division <75kg was Wilhelm Schurmann BRA-999. Ross Williams frequently enters as a lightweight but never gets near the weight limit.

Thanks Sean - that was briliant. It's just like a plane crash, horrific to watch but you just can't turn away
