Anyone got any/know any good companies that will freight windsurfing gear interstate, i'm trying to get some second hand gear but living in Tasmania really limits what is around and if i can get it freighted would be a lot easier.
Cheers.
I have received deliveries from shops via smartsend.com.au
A lot of freight companies don't want to know you unless you have an account with them and send a minimum per month. This company will deliver for anyone and gives quotes online.
Obelix,
I've trucked boards from NSW and Queensland to WA, and usually pay around $100 or so. Never had a problem so far.
Cheers, jens
Freighting yourself is always going to be quite expensive. If you can find something you want to purchase from any of these companies, in the past they have quoted me about $80-90 for the freighting from WA or Queensland to Victoria. Clearly they have some kind of arrangement with the freight companies.http://www.boardcrazy.ashop.com.au/c/126300/1/used-windsurf-boards.html

Hi Iantas,
i use smartsend to freight down to Hobart and they are fine.
Usually take about 2 weeks though, so they are not the fastest but price and service is great.
They are about $80 for a sail to tas which is pretty good.
If you can get a cheap flight with virgin, they allow 28kg of sporting equipment per person, plus carryon. Fly in and bring board back?
I've also used the freight company "Neilson and Johnston" to get boards into Tas from Victoria for around $20 and use another company to freight along the Eastern seaboard. They have brought a lot of boards into Tas and really look after them.
As others have said, the shops tend to get good freight rates and it can often be absorbed into the price of the gear.
AAE used to be pretty good if you could get it for a surfboard rate (around $80 state-to-state), but I seem to remember that they changed this recently and it now probably costs about what you were quoted!
I use www.smartsend.com.au for all my gear I sell and transport (apart from small stuff through the mail).
To get a board from Adelaide to Hobart costs about $90. A sail or boom is only about $30.
The same thing with packsend will be more than double from the quotes that I have got from them.
They're also pretty quick. I sent a mast from outside of the suburbs in SA to Melbourne and it was picked up at 4pm one day and delivered by 10am the next!
What size board are you trying to transport?
260 x 60 x 15 (for example) comes in at just under $100 on their online quote.
